In the evening, our city tour starts at the Reunification Palace, a significant building from the Vietnam War era, now serving as a museum and venue for official gatherings. Nearby, you'll visit the Central Post Office, a striking colonial-era building. You'll stroll along Nguyen Hue Street, where you can photograph the Opera House and the Ho Chi Minh City Committee buildings from outside. Next, we'll walk to Ben Thanh Market, a bustling hub where you can experience local life and shop for handmade goods. Tonight, you'll stay at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
After breakfast today, you'll head to My Tho. Upon arrival, you'll board a boat to cruise along the mighty Mekong River, observing local life along the riverbanks. We'll stop at one of the four nearby islands to explore. Next, you'll take small boats rowed by locals through narrow canals lined with water coconut trees. You'll visit local factories to taste honey tea and see how coconut candy is made. You can even try making some yourself or stroll through a garden where locals tend to honeybees. Afterward, enjoy a horse-cart ride along tranquil village roads. For lunch, we'll dine at a local restaurant near the Mekong River, sampling Elephant Ear fish. In the evening, we'll return to Saigon with a visit to Vinh Trang Pagoda, renowned for its blend of Chinese, Cambodian, and French architectural styles. Tonight, you'll stay at a hotel in Saigon.
Today's journey begins with exploring the majestic Angkor temples. After breakfast, we'll start at the South Gate of Angkor Thom, also known as Big Angkor. This was the royal city and the final capital of the Angkor Empire. Our first stop is the famous Bayon Temple, renowned for its intricate architecture developed over a century in a unique, patchwork style. Next, we'll visit the Terrace of the Elephants, featuring a long wall adorned with carved elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King, adorned with carvings of nagas, demons, and mythical creatures. We'll also explore Baphuon, a colossal temple mountain, and the Royal Palace Area, including Phimeanakas, an impressive sandstone pyramid. Our morning concludes with a visit to the enchanting Ta Prohm temple, where the harmony of nature and human craftsmanship creates a captivating atmosphere. In the afternoon, we'll head to the iconic Angkor Wat temple, a masterpiece representing the Hindu universe. With its five towers and extensive galleries adorned with carvings and celestial Apsara dancers, Angkor Wat offers a glimpse into a mystical realm. Tonight, we'll unwind at our hotel in Siem Reap, reflecting on the wonders of the day.
